Iran Executes two men over alleged Mossad plot

Iran has executed two men accused of working for Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency and planning attacks inside the country, according to the Iranian judiciary’s official news outlet Mizan. The executions come amid heightened regional tensions and an ongoing crackdown on alleged espionage networks.

The two men were identified as Mohammad Masoum Shahi and Hamed Validi. Iranian authorities said they were part of a Mossad-linked spy network and had reportedly received training abroad, including in Iraq’s Kurdistan region.

State media said the pair were convicted on charges including “enmity against God” and cooperation with hostile groups. Iran’s Supreme Court reportedly upheld the death sentences before they were carried out.

Iran has frequently announced arrests and executions of people accused of spying for Israel, especially as tensions between the two longtime rivals continue to escalate. Human rights groups have often criticised Iran’s use of the death penalty and questioned the fairness of trials involving national security charges.
