Anymore Zvitsva pleads guilty to 10 counts of violent charges

The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) has confirmed that 35-year-old Anymore Zvitsva, a former fugitive accused of unleashing a wave of violent crimes in Guruve between October and December 2025, has pleaded guilty to 10 counts, including rape, attempted murder and robbery.

In a statement yesterday, the NPAZ said: “Anymore Zvitsva (35), a former fugitive who allegedly terrorised Guruve between October and December 2025 has pleaded guilty to 10 counts, including rape, attempted murder and robbery.

Zvitsva will return to court on May 14 2026 for a pre-sentence hearing as the case progresses toward final sentencing,” the Authority added

According to the prosecution, Zvitsva is accused of carrying out what it described as a calculated and brutal pattern of behaviour.

The accused targeted vulnerable individuals, often using weapons and snare wire to subdue his victims.

The victims included a 14-year-old juvenile and a 62-year-old woman. In multiple instances, he allegedly tied the victims with wire or shoelaces and dragged them into mountains or bushes to commit the acts,” the authority said.

Zvitsva is further linked to five counts of attempted murder.

“The accused is linked to five counts of attempted murder where he is accused of stabbing victims in the neck, chest and abdomen with knives and spears, as well as strangling victims using snare wires until they lost consciousness,” the NPAZ added.

The prosecution also alleged that Zvitsva carried out violent home invasions.

“Zvitsva also allegedly broke into homes at night, sometimes wearing a balaclava to attack sleeping families,” the NPAZ said.

The NPAZ said Zvitsva’s campaign brutality ended on the 3rd of January 2026.

“Zvitsva’s reign of terror ended on the 3rd of January 2026 when the accused person was arrested.

He led the police to various crime scenes for indications, including the recovery of a victim’s red t-shirt hidden under a log at an anthill,” the statement added.

The authority also confirmed that Zvitsva is awaiting indictment at the High Court on additional murder charges allegedly committed in the same period.
