City lift FA Cup

The sky above Wembley Stadium turned blue once again as Manchester City edged past Chelsea F.C. 1–0 in a tense and dramatic 2026 FA Cup Final, reclaiming their place at the summit of English football.

In front of more than 83,000 fans packed into the national stadium, Pep Guardiola’s side survived a fierce Chelsea challenge before producing a single moment of magic that decided the contest. The breakthrough arrived in the 72nd minute when Antoine Semenyo stunned Wembley with an audacious backheel finish after a dangerous cutback from Erling Haaland.

The goal ignited wild celebrations among the City supporters, who had endured a nervy, cagey final in which chances were scarce and tension dominated every pass. Chelsea started brightly and looked the more threatening side early on, with João Pedro and Cole Palmer testing the City defense. But Guardiola’s men remained composed, absorbing pressure before striking decisively.

City’s experience eventually proved decisive. Substitute Rayan Cherki injected life into the attack, helping create the move that led to the winner, while defenders led by Marc Guéhi held firm during Chelsea’s desperate late surge.

As the final whistle sounded, Guardiola punched the air in delight before embracing his players on the touchline. After suffering FA Cup final heartbreak in previous seasons, Manchester City had returned to Wembley and delivered once more on the biggest domestic stage.

For Chelsea, the defeat extended a painful run in major domestic finals despite an inspired cup campaign under interim boss Calum McFarlane. The Blues battled bravely but lacked the clinical edge needed to break down City’s disciplined back line.

But this night belonged to Manchester City.

Blue confetti poured from the Wembley roof as captain Bernardo Silva lifted the famous trophy high into the London night, while City fans roared in celebration of another glorious chapter in the club’s modern dynasty.
