Arsenal can move within touching distance of a first Premier League title in 22 years when they host relegated Burnley at the Emirates Stadium on Monday night. Kick-off is 9:00pm CAT.
With two games left, Mikel Arteta’s side sit two points clear of Manchester City. A win against Burnley would put the pressure squarely on City, who play at Bournemouth 24 hours later. If Arsenal win and City drop points, the trophy could be confirmed before the final day.
Arsenal come in off a gritty 1-0 win at West Ham, secured by a controversial late VAR decision that ruled out a West Ham equaliser. That was their fourth straight Premier League win, and they’ve kept three consecutive clean sheets.
Burnley’s fate is sealed. The Clarets were relegated weeks ago and sit 19th. They’ve won just one of their last 27 league games. That said, Mike Jackson’s side showed fight in a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on 10 May.
Team News
Arsenal are dealing with a depleted right-back situation. Ben White is out for the season with a knee injury, and Jurrien Timber is still recovering. Riccardo Calafiori is a doubt after limping off vs West Ham. Cristhian Mosquera is expected to start at right-back.
Mikel Arteta is likely to stick with his front four: Viktor Gyökeres up top, with Bukayo Saka, Eberechi Eze and Leandro Trossard supporting. Martin Ødegaard should partner Declan Rice in midfield.
Burnley will be without Jordan Beyer, Connor Roberts and Josh Cullen. Hannibal Mejbri is a doubt after picking up an injury vs Villa. Former City man Kyle Walker will be motivated to disrupt Arsenal’s title push.
