Malawian giants Nyasa Big Bullets have been hit with a transfer ban by FIFA for failing to pay Zimbabwean midfielder Ronald Chitiyo the $15,200 compensation due to him following the premature termination of his contract.
The club, formerly coached by Kalisto Pasuwa, was sanctioned after it missed the 45-day deadline to settle the debt with Chitiyo.
As a result, Nyasa Bullets are now prohibited from registering any new players until the full amount is paid, a restriction that could remain in place for up to three consecutive transfer windows.
Chitiyo, now playing for Castle Lager Premier Soccer League side, Green Fuel FC, was released after just one season despite signing a three-year contract on April 2, 2024.
He was let go alongside fellow Zimbabweans, Collins Mujuru and Kenneth Pasuwa, son of coach Kalisto Pasuwa, who departed following the expiry of his contract.
