Recently retired Chief Justice Luke Malaba has received an agricultural mechanisation package from President Emmerson Mnangagwa in recognition of his decades of distinguished service to the judiciary and his contribution to the nation.
Speaking after welcoming the former Chief Justice to State House on Saturday, President Mnangagwa said the package was intended to support Malaba’s transition from public service into agricultural production.
“It was my pleasure to welcome the recently retired Chief Justice, Luke Malaba, to State House today.
In recognition of his outstanding service spanning decades, unwavering commitment, and exemplary legal leadership within the Zimbabwean judiciary, I presented him with an agricultural mechanisation package to facilitate his transition into post-retirement life,” President Mnangagwa said.
The President said the package includes key farming equipment designed to boost productivity and support agricultural activities.
“The package comprises a tractor, a Nissan UD truck, a boom sprayer, and a planter to facilitate his agricultural pursuits,” he said.
President Mnangagwa commended Malaba for his contribution to the country’s justice system, describing his tenure as one marked by dedication and exemplary leadership.
The Head of State and Government also encouraged the retired jurist to apply the same commitment he demonstrated in the judiciary to the agricultural sector, which remains a cornerstone of Zimbabwe’s economy.
“As he retires from the judiciary, I encourage him to leverage his vast expertise in the agricultural sector. Our land is a vital asset, and productivity must persist at all levels,” President Mnangagwa said.
The President further praised Malaba for his service to the nation and expressed confidence in his future endeavours.
“I applaud the retired Chief Justice for his dedication to the nation and wish him every success in his future agricultural ventures,” he said.
The presentation of the mechanisation package comes as Government continues to promote increased agricultural productivity under its rural industrialisation and modernisation agenda.
Malaba retired recently after serving as Chief Justice, a position in which he played a central role in leading Zimbabwe’s judiciary and overseeing key legal and constitutional matters.
