Ministry of Health and Child Care has warned members of the public against a fraudulent recruitment scam circulating on social media, falsely claiming to invite applications for Trainee Dental Therapists through a WhatsApp number.
In a statement yesterday, the Ministry said the advertisement, which directs applicants to submit their applications via a WhatsApp number before a purported deadline of June 10, 2026, is fake and does not originate from the Government.
“The Ministry of Health and Child Care advises the public of a fraudulent advertisement circulating on social media platforms inviting applications for Trainee Dental Therapists through a WhatsApp number 0780967346, with a submission deadline of 10 June 2026,” the Ministry said.
The Ministry stressed that it does not conduct recruitment processes through WhatsApp and urged job seekers to rely only on official communication channels when seeking employment opportunities within the health sector.
“The Ministry does not recruit or receive applications via WhatsApp. All official recruitment is announced ONLY through the country’s mainstream public print media and the Ministry of Health and Child Care’s verified communication platforms,” the Ministry said.
Health authorities warned that any recruitment notice distributed outside these recognised channels should be treated as fraudulent.
“Any communication outside these channels is fraudulent, illegal, and intended to defraud members of the public,” the Ministry said.
The Ministry urged citizens to remain vigilant and avoid engaging with individuals behind the scam, warning that sharing personal information could expose people to fraud and identity theft.
“Members of the public are urged to disregard the advertisement and not share personal information, as this is a fraudulent activity and constitutes a criminal offence,” the Ministry said.
The Ministry further called on Zimbabweans to exercise caution when responding to online job advertisements and to verify information through official Government platforms before submitting any personal details.
“Stay alert. Stay informed. Protect yourself,” the Ministry said.
The warning comes amid growing concerns over the proliferation of online recruitment scams targeting job seekers through social media and messaging platforms, often using the names of Government institutions and reputable organisations to deceive members of the public.
