Zim firms court Zambian partners

Twenty-five Zimbabwean companies are in Zambia seeking strategic partnerships and new business opportunities as part of a ZimTrade-led trade mission aimed at boosting bilateral trade and investment between the two countries.

The mission commenced with a Services Business Forum in Lusaka, where Zimbabwean and Zambian companies engaged in business-to-business meetings focused mainly on the agriculture and building and construction services sectors.

In a statement yesterday, ZimTrade said the strong participation by businesses from both countries reflected growing interest in strengthening commercial ties within the region.

“The Services Business Forum marked the beginning of the Zambia Services Mission currently taking place in Lusaka today.

We were happy to have a good turnout of local and Zambian businesses, underscoring a strong regional appetite for commercial engagement,”it said

The trade development and promotion organisation said 25 Zimbabwean companies were already on the ground pursuing partnerships and exploring opportunities in the Zambian market.

“Currently, 25 Zimbabwean companies are on the ground establishing strategic linkages, with B2B matchmaking focused heavily on the Agriculture and Building & Construction services sectors,” ZimTrade said.

The agency said the mission was expected to translate business engagements into tangible trade and investment outcomes that would benefit both economies.

“This mission marks a critical step forward in driving concrete bilateral trade and investment opportunities within the region,” ZimTrade said.

The initiative comes as Zimbabwe intensifies efforts to expand exports and increase the participation of local companies in regional value chains under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and other regional integration frameworks.

Business-to-business matchmaking sessions are expected to provide Zimbabwean firms with an opportunity to showcase their expertise, identify potential partners and gain insights into the Zambian market, while fostering cross-border collaboration in key economic sectors.

Zambia remains an important market for Zimbabwean businesses due to its geographic proximity, shared regional trade arrangements and growing demand for specialised services in sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure development and construction.
