Treasury seeks public input on 2026 Mid-Term Budget Review

The Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion has called on citizens, businesses, civil society organisations and other stakeholders to submit proposals and recommendations for consideration in the 2026 Mid-Term Budget and Economic Review as well as the 2027 Budget Strategy Paper.

In a statement yesterday, the ministry said stakeholder participation was critical in shaping policies that support sustainable economic growth, macroeconomic stability and national development.

“The Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion invites all stakeholders to submit their inputs and proposals for consideration in the 2026 Mid-Term Budget and Economic Review and the 2027 Budget Strategy Paper,” the ministry said.

The ministry emphasised that contributions from various sectors of the economy would help inform government decisions and ensure that fiscal policies respond to the needs and aspirations of Zimbabweans.

“Stakeholder contributions are essential in shaping policies that promote sustainable economic growth, macroeconomic stability, and national development,” treasury said.

The ministry urged stakeholders to submit their recommendations before the June 24 deadline.

“Submit your contributions to [email protected]. Deadline for submissions: 24 June 2026. Your views matter. Participate in shaping Zimbabwe’s economic future,” the ministry said.

The Mid-Term Budget and Economic Review is a key fiscal policy instrument through which Treasury assesses economic performance during the first half of the year and outlines measures to address emerging challenges and opportunities.

The Budget Strategy Paper, meanwhile, provides the framework for the preparation of the national budget and sets out government priorities for the coming fiscal year.

The call for submissions comes as Government continues to pursue policies aimed at maintaining economic stability, promoting investment, supporting industrialisation and accelerating the attainment of national development goals.
