Doctors rally behind health reforms

Radiologist Dr Coming Hove has called on medical practitioners to support and acknowledge the Second Republic’s efforts to transform Zimbabwe’s healthcare sector through infrastructure development and modernisation.

Speaking on progress recorded in the health sector, Dr Hove said the country was witnessing significant improvements under President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration, as demonstrated by the construction, rehabilitation and upgrading of hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centres across the country.

“Under the visionary leadership of President Mnangagwa, we have seen tangible results. New facilities are coming up in both urban and rural areas. As doctors, we must complement these efforts and work with Government to improve service delivery for all citizens,” said Dr Hove.

He said the expansion of health infrastructure was helping to improve access to quality healthcare services and creating a stronger foundation for the delivery of specialised medical care.

Dr Hove stressed that collaboration between healthcare professionals and Government was essential to ensuring that investments in infrastructure translate into improved health outcomes for citizens.

“We have a responsibility as medical practitioners to contribute towards the success of these initiatives through constructive engagement, professional input and support for programmes that strengthen the health system,” he said.

He encouraged healthcare workers to actively participate in policy discussions and provide feedback that can help shape interventions aimed at improving service delivery.

The remarks come at a time when Government is intensifying the implementation of projects under the National Development Strategy 2, which identifies health as one of the key sectors for investment, expansion and modernisation.

Through ongoing infrastructure development, equipment upgrades and health sector reforms, Zimbabwe continues to pursue its goal of building a resilient and accessible healthcare system capable of meeting the needs of all communities.
