Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has appointed West Indies fast-bowling legend Courtney Walsh as bowling coach of the senior men’s national team, reinforcing the Chevrons’ technical department ahead of upcoming international assignments.
The appointment comes as ZC retained the coaching team that guided Zimbabwe to a historic Super Eight finish at this year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, signalling confidence in the technical setup that delivered the team’s impressive campaign.
Head coach Justin Sammons will continue to lead the side, assisted by Dion Ebrahim, while Stuart Matsikenyeri remains fielding coach, ensuring continuity within the senior men’s team.
ZC has also strengthened its selection structures with the appointment of former Zimbabwe internationals Hamilton Masakadza and Christopher Mpofu to the Senior Men’s Selection Panel. The duo joins David Mutendera as the board seeks to build on the national team’s recent progress.
At junior level, Elton Chigumbura has been retained as head coach of the Zimbabwe Under-19 team, while former national team all-rounder Donald Tiripano has earned promotion to assistant bowling coach.
The appointments reflect ZC’s commitment to maintaining stability within its coaching and talent identification structures as it continues developing Zimbabwean cricket at both senior and junior levels.
