Zanu PF Secretary for Women’s Affairs, Mabel Chinomona, has tasked the Women’s League with formulating practical and implementable resolutions ahead of the party’s 23rd National People’s Conference, urging members to champion policies that address the needs of women and communities.
Speaking at the Women’s League National Executive meeting in Harare, this Tuesday, Chinomona said the October conference, to be hosted by Mashonaland West Province, offered an opportunity for the League to contribute meaningful policy proposals aligned with the party’s vision and the Government’s development agenda.
“The Women’s League must formulate practical and implementable resolutions that will strengthen the party and address issues affecting women and communities across the country,” she said.
She urged national executive members and provincial leaders to ensure the resolutions respond to grassroots concerns, while emphasising unity, discipline and strong leadership as the League prepares for the conference.
The meeting also reviewed preparations for the Women’s League National Assembly, scheduled for today at the party headquarters, where delegates are expected to refine the League’s proposals ahead of the annual conference.
Meanwhile, the Women’s League welcomed the enactment of Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3 following President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s assent, describing it as a reflection of the people’s will and the President’s commitment to advancing their interests.
“We express our gratitude to His Excellency, President Mnangagwa, for assenting to Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3. The signing of the law reflects the will of the people of Zimbabwe and demonstrates the President’s commitment to putting the interests of citizens first,” Chinomona said.
She also commended the manner in which the constitutional amendment process was conducted before the Bill was presented for Presidential assent.
Chinomona also reaffirmed the Women’s League’s support for President Mnangagwa and Zanu PF, calling on members to remain united, disciplined and hardworking as the party intensifies preparations for the National People’s Conference.
