More than 50 students from Hunyani Constituency have successfully obtained their provisional driver’s licences, thanks to a youth empowerment initiative spearheaded by Hon. Tongai Mafidi Mnangagwa through the Tonganyika Trust.

The programme is designed to equip young people with practical life skills that enhance employability while advancing Government’s vision of inclusive development under Vision 2030.

Speaking to the Harare Post, Hon. Tongai Mnangagwa outlined the vision behind the initiative.

“Through the Tonganyika Trust, we are providing our youth with skills that open doors to employment and entrepreneurship,” he said.

He added that the programme was not just about provisionals, but about ensuring the full empowerment of young people.

“Driving is a vital skill, and we are committed to supporting everyone who received their provisional driver’s licences today to successfully obtain their full licences, making sure no one is left behind,” he said.

Beneficiaries hailed the programme as a life-changing opportunity. Ms. Tsitsi Muzambi expressed gratitude, saying:

“This provisional licence represents more than just a document. It is a key to my future. Opportunities that were once unreachable are now within my grasp. I’m deeply thankful to Hon. Mnangagwa for this empowerment.”

Another recipient, Mr. Godknows Chikwukwa, highlighted the financial relief it brought.

“Getting a provisional licence was once unaffordable for me, but now I hold it proudly. This initiative truly reflects leadership that cares for the people,” he said.
