Kuzana Expo preparations enter final stage

Preparations for the inaugural Kuzana Sport and Creative Economy Expo of Zimbabwe (Kuzana-SCEEZ) have entered the final stage.

In a statement yesterday, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Nicholas Moyo, said the Expo would run from October 7 to 11, 2026, at the Zimbabwe International Conference and Exhibition Smart City (ZICES) in Bulawayo.

“The Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture (MoSRAC) wishes to advise the nation, the business community, sport and creative industry practitioners, investors and the international community that preparations for the inaugural Kuzana Sport and Creative Economy Expo of Zimbabwe (Kuzana SCEEZ) 2026 are at an advanced stage,” Moyo said.

He said President Emmerson Mnangagwa would officially open the Expo on October 9.

“Following the official launch of the Expo in May 2026, the Ministry is now entering the final phase of preparations for this landmark platform, which seeks to position Zimbabwe as a regional hub for the development, commercialisation and export of sport and creative industry products and services,” he said.

Moyo said the Expo would move beyond showcasing talent by creating practical opportunities for businesses and practitioners.

“The Expo is designed to move beyond the celebration of talent by creating practical opportunities for trade, investment, entrepreneurship, skills development, market access and industrialisation across the sport and creative economy,” he said.

Held under the theme “Kuzana: Towards Vision 2030 through Sport and Creative Industries,” the event will feature high-level conferences, exhibitions, business engagements, sporting activities and entertainment.

“‘To play’ represents the competitive spirit and dynamism of sport, while ‘to dance’ reflects the rhythm, performance, creativity and cultural expression that define Zimbabwe’s diverse creative industries,” he said.

The programme will include a Sport Industry Conference on October 7 and a Creative Economy Industries Conference on October 8, alongside concurrent exhibitions from October 7 to 10.

The Expo will also feature a boxing tournament, marathon and music festival, with South African artiste Scott Maphuma expected to perform.

The programme will culminate in a Highlanders-Dynamos match at Barbourfields Stadium on October 11 as part of Highlanders’ centenary celebrations.
