Nguluvhe meets traditional leaders ahead of Mangwe ward 12 by-elections

The Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Matabeleland South, Hon. Albert Nguluvhe, yesterday met traditional leaders in Ward 12, Zimnyama Small Scale, as part of preparations for the upcoming Mangwe Rural District Council by-election, where ZANU PF candidate Cde Benjamin Ndlovu is contesting.

The engagement brought together headmen, village heads and government officials to discuss development priorities and strengthen cooperation between Government and traditional leadership.

The meeting also served to assess ongoing and planned infrastructure projects in the ward, which has been under opposition control in recent years.

Hon. Nguluvhe said Government was determined to ensure that tangible development reaches all communities regardless of political background.

He emphasised that traditional leaders play a central role in linking Government programmes to grassroots needs.

“We are here to listen and to act. Our focus is on people-centred development that responds directly to local challenges. You will soon see visible progress in Ward 12 as part of our broader effort to uplift all rural communities,” Hon. Nguluvhe said.

During the meeting, a road grader arrived and began grading local roads, signalling immediate action on infrastructure rehabilitation.

Hon. Nguluvhe said improving roads and accessibility remained a key priority for the province, particularly ahead of the rainy season.

The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including Director of Local Government Services Mr Zachariah Jusah, Mangwe District Development Coordinator Mrs Mlotshwa, and senior ZANU PF provincial leaders such as Central Committee member Cde Micha Mpofu and Provincial Political Commissar Cde Washington Nkomo.

Cde Ndlovu, the ZANU PF candidate for the by-election, also addressed the gathering, pledging to continue working closely with traditional leaders to bring lasting development to the area.

“This meeting demonstrates that ZANU PF is committed to development-driven politics. Our approach is about action, not promises. The people of Ward 12 will see the results,” said Cde Nkomo.

As campaigning intensifies ahead of the by-election, Government and Party structures have pledged to maintain collaboration with traditional leaders to ensure improved service delivery, better infrastructure, and strengthened community development across Mangwe District.
