Zinara Mega licensing promotion draws huge crowds at ZAS

The Zimbabwe National Road Administration (Zinara) stand has emerged as one of the busiest attractions at the ongoing Zimbabwe Agricultural Show, with motorists thronging the exhibition to take advantage of the authority’s “Mega Licensing Promotion.”

The promotion, which runs until August 30, offers motorists significant discounts on vehicle licence renewals and penalties.

To manage the overwhelming turnout, Zinara has established 14 service counters at its stand to speed up transactions and cut waiting times.

Under the scheme, motorists who have fallen behind on licence renewals benefit from a 50 percent discount on penalties.

Senior citizens aged 65 and above enjoy a complete waiver of penalties, while current licence renewals are discounted by between 25 and 30 percent. Zinara officials confirmed that the initiative is available nationwide at all Zinara offices and agencies.

Motorists interviewed at the exhibition expressed appreciation for the promotion, describing it as a relief during challenging economic times.

“This is a very good move because many people had fallen behind on licence renewals due to financial challenges. The discount has allowed me to regularise my licence without straining my budget,” said Tawanda Moyo, a Harare motorist.

Another motorist, Ruth Chidemo, applauded the initiative for considering senior citizens.

“I am very happy with the waiver for those of us above 65. It shows that Zinara understands the difficulties faced by pensioners,” she said.

Farai Ncube, who renewed his licence at the show, said the convenience of the additional service counters was commendable.

“The process was very fast compared to what we are used to. Zinara must consider keeping such efficiency even after the promotion ends,” he said.

Zinara officials said the strong response reflected motorists’ desire to take advantage of the reduced costs and urged vehicle owners to regularise their licences before the promotion closes.
