Amapiano Festival returns

Mbulelo Mpofu – Bulawayo’s vibrant music scene is set to welcome the return of the popular Amapiano Festival this summer, following a two-year absence. Organisers confirmed the festival’s comeback, marking a significant moment for fans of the genre in the city and beyond.

The festival, which last took place in 2023, has been a notable fixture celebrating the explosive growth of the Amapiano sound. Its hiatus left a noticeable gap in Bulawayo’s cultural calendar, making this year’s announcement highly anticipated among local music enthusiasts.

To herald its return, the festival team has launched a series of pre-event activities centred around the theme, “Make The Circle Bigger”. This initiative aims to recapture the festival’s core ethos of fostering connection and shared experience through music and dance.

The first official pre-event activation is scheduled for this Saturday, at a local nightclub. Organisers described it as a preview, offering attendees a taste of the festival atmosphere – including signature Amapiano beats and special performances – designed to build excitement for the main event.

Key details regarding the main Amapiano Festival itself are still under wraps. The official date, venue, and full artiste lineup are expected to be unveiled by organisers in the coming weeks.

However, one of the organisers, Vuyisile Ndlovu, has emphasised delivering “world-class performances” and “interactive experiences” to celebrate the continued rise of Amapiano culture.
