Andy Rinomhota Seals Reading FC Return, Vows to Drive Royals Up League One Table

Zimbabwean international Andy Rinomhota has sealed his emotional return to Reading FC, rejoining the club this week with a firm focus on helping the Royals in the League One.

The 28-year-old midfielder, who made over 120 appearances for Reading before moving to Cardiff City in 2022, believes his homecoming comes at the perfect moment for both himself and the team’s revival under new manager Liam Richardson.

Speaking to Reading FC Media soon after rejoining, Rinomhota said his focus is mainly on contributing to Reading’s revival.

“Everyone’s looking to move in the right direction, and I’m looking forward to being a part of that,” he said.

“There’s really good energy around the place. The lads are buying into the manager’s philosophy, and you can see that in recent performances.”

Rinomhota is, however, optimistic that the club can make a strong push up the table.

“It’s still fairly early in the season, and a lot can change quickly. The position we are in now is one we can definitely improve on, we just have to build on the momentum and look up rather than down.”

After spending the past few months without a club, Rinomhota says he is physically ready and mentally refreshed for the challenge ahead.

“Training’s been good, and I’m eager to get back into matches,” he said. “I can’t wait to cross that white line again.”

His first test could come this weekend, fittingly against Rotherham United, his former club.

The new headline is more active, and the introduction combines the key facts (Zimbabwean international, age, appearance count, previous club) with the stated goal for a stronger opening.
