Zanu PF convenes key leadership meetings this week

Zanu PF has announced a series of high-level meetings set to take place from Wednesday to Friday this week, marking the party’s first major gatherings since its Annual National People’s Conference held in Mutare in October. Party spokesperson Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa confirmed the schedule in a statement issued yesterday.

According to the announcement, the sequence of meetings will begin on Wednesday, December 3, with a Politburo meeting scheduled for 10:00am. This will be followed by a Central Committee meeting on Thursday, December 4, also set for 10:00am. The week will conclude with a National Consultative Assembly (NCA) meeting on Friday, December 5, again starting at 10:00am.

Ambassador Mutsvangwa said the notice was issued by the party’s secretary-general, Advocate Jacob Mudenda, who urged all members required to attend to take note of the dates and times.

“The secretary-general of Zanu PF, Advocate Jacob Mudenda, advises all members of the following meetings The Politburo, Central Committee and National Consultative Assembly,” he said, before outlining the full schedule.

All three meetings will be held at the Zanu PF Headquarters in Harare, with members expected to be seated by 9:45am to ensure proceedings begin promptly.

The gatherings are significant as they come soon after the party’s Mutare conference, where several key policy positions and organisational priorities were outlined. The Politburo, Central Committee and National Consultative Assembly are the ruling party’s top decision-making bodies outside of Congress, and their meetings often set the tone for national political and policy direction.

This week’s sessions are therefore expected to review resolutions from the October conference, assess ongoing programmes, and map out strategic focus areas as the party prepares for the upcoming year.
