Residents of Bubi Constituency have actively contributed to shaping the area’s development priorities for 2026, following a series of feedback meetings, held on 12 and 13 January.
The meetings, led by the local Member of Parliament (MP) and Deputy Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation and Technology Development, Simelisizwe Sibanda, provided a platform for communities to review progress on key projects and discuss plans for the year ahead.
The MP highlighted achievements in the district including improvements in education, health services, water supply, road infrastructure, youth empowerment initiatives, and social support programmes.
He emphasised that transparency, accountability, and community participation are critical to ensuring development reaches every ward.
“Accountability meetings like these are essential for unity and progress. Your feedback helps me represent your interests effectively in Parliament,” he said.
Looking ahead, the constituency set plans to consolidate previous development gains and scaling up youth skills training, expanding village business units, strengthening agriculture and irrigation, and promoting climate-resilient livelihoods. The MP noted that these initiatives would be aligned with the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2).
“Communities must take ownership of their development agenda. Expanding village business units, enhancing youth skills training, and strengthening agriculture and climate-resilient livelihoods are critical for our growth. Your inputs will guide our priorities and ensure that development benefits every ward and household,” he said.
He also urged residents to remain united and support national leadership as the constituency works towards achieving Vision 2030, stressing that sustainable development depends on active participation from all community members.
Deputy Minister of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Kevin Mutimbanyoka, and Bulawayo Permanent Secretary for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Paul Nyoni, also attended the meetings, in which they praised residents for their engagement and reaffirmed Government’s commitment to inclusive, community-driven development.
