President Mnangagwa is expected to have a full schedule in Gweru today as he presides over two major events that reflect the Government’s development priorities and Zanu PF’s internal leadership-strengthening programmes.
The President will begin the day by leading the National Clean-Up Campaign at OK Supermarket. The initiative, launched in 2018, takes place on the first Friday of every month and promotes environmental hygiene, public health and community responsibility. The programme has become a flagship of the Second Republic, rallying citizens, businesses and local authorities to maintain clean and orderly communities.
His participation is expected to attract large numbers of residents keen to witness the Head of State taking part in community work.
Later, President Mnangagwa is scheduled to officially open the Zanu PF Central Committee members’ seminar being held in the city. The high-level meeting brings together senior party officials from across the country to strengthen leadership capacity, assess policy implementation and align the party’s work with national development priorities.
The seminar offers a platform for top officials to deliberate on key socio-economic and political issues while reinforcing unity and strategic direction within the ruling party.
Midlands Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Owen Ncube said the province was honoured to host the President for both engagements.
“We are excited to be graced by President Mnangagwa here in Gweru. He is expected to lead the Presidential Clean-Up Campaign before officially opening the Zanu PF Central Committee members’ seminar, which kicked off yesterday,” he said.
Minister Ncube added that the visit demonstrates the President’s commitment to grassroots development, environmental stewardship and the strengthening of governance structures as Zimbabwe works toward attaining Vision 2030
