D-Day for Agama as they face log leaders N’ombeyaora FC

All roads lead to Heart Stadium B Arena, tomorrow afternoon, where Agama Football Club will clash with table-topping N’ombeyaora FC in a decisive Northern Region Soccer League encounter scheduled for 2 pm.

For Agama, this is more than just another league fixture – it is a must-win battle that could define their promotion destiny.

Agama enter the showdown trailing N’ombeyaora by four points and four goals, sitting second on the log with 59 points after 28 matches.

The leaders are on 63 points and know that victory will put them firmly in control of the title race. For Agama, anything short of three points will all but end their hopes of securing automatic promotion.

The visitors from Mt Darwin arrive in Harare buoyed by a midweek 1-0 victory over relegation-threatened Shamva Mine FC at Pfura Stadium.

That win gave them renewed belief ahead of their biggest assignment of the season.

Their opponents, N’ombeyaora, also carry momentum into the tie after edging Oden FC 2-1 in Chinhoyi, in a dramatic game that saw an extraordinary 17 minutes of added time.

Agama coach Paul Chimalizeni, speaking to this publication ahead of the clash, urged his players to focus on their football while placing their faith in divine providence.

“Our part is to play good football and leave the rest to God. I have hope that the boys will rise to the occasion, secure maximum points, and reduce the gap to just one point with N’ombeyaora,” Chimalizeni said.

Sports commentator Ignatious Mwale underscored the magnitude of the fixture, describing it as one of the most important matches of the campaign.

He also called for fairness from match officials amid growing concerns of biased officiating.

“This is a big game for the Northern Region Soccer League, one that could determine who finishes on top. I trust the referees will be up to standard, especially after reports that some teams have been favoured at the expense of others,” Mwale noted.

Tomorrow’s game also revives memories of the reverse fixture earlier in the season, when Agama edged N’ombeyaora 1-0 at Pfura Stadium thanks to a well-taken strike by Grey Kufandada.

That result remains a source of inspiration for Chimalizeni’s men, who know they can match the league leaders on their day.

With the stakes sky-high, Heart Stadium B Arena is expected to host a charged atmosphere as both sets of fans turn out in numbers.

For Agama, tomorrow is a do-or-die moment: victory will keep their title dream alive, but defeat will almost certainly close the door on their promotion bid.
