Zanu PF legislator for Gwanda-Tshitaudze, Fisani Moyo, has been commended for spearheading grassroots development after the successful roofing of a classroom block at Dendele Primary School on Saturday.
The milestone followed Moyo’s donation of roofing materials, which enabled the long-stalled project to move forward.
Hon. Moyo said the development was a testament to the power of unity between leaders and communities.
“Education is the foundation of our nation. By completing this roof, we are investing in the future of our children. I salute the Dendele community for their hard work and commitment, because without them, this would not have been possible,” he said.
The classroom block, once delayed by a lack of resources, will soon provide learners with a safer and more conducive learning environment.
Parents and teachers welcomed the progress. Local parent Sipho Ncube said, “The roof brings dignity and hope to our children. We are grateful to our MP for standing with us in this journey.”
A teacher at the school, who refused to be named, said the milestone was more than just construction.
“Teaching becomes effective in proper classrooms. This roof represents value and care for our learners,” he said.
Community members provided labour and mobilised resources to complement the MP’s donation.
A community member, stated, “We worked together because this is our school and our future. This shows what can be achieved when the community unites with its leadership.”
With the roofing now complete, the classroom block is edging closer to final completion, with flooring, plastering and painting expected in the next phase.
For the people of Dendele, the project is more than a school block — it is a symbol of resilience, partnership, and hope for the next generation.
