Zimbabwe’s Embassy in the United Arab Emirates has urged nationals living in or visiting the Gulf nation to remain calm, exercise caution and limit non-essential movements as tensions in the Middle East intensify.
In a statement, the Embassy said, “We advise all Zimbabwean nationals in the UAE to remain calm, exercise heightened caution, and minimise non-essential movements. Please continue to follow official safety guidelines and advisories issued by UAE authorities.”
The advisory comes as conflict in the region enters its fourth day following escalating hostilities involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
Iran has issued military responses targeting US and Israeli-linked assets in the Gulf. Tensions further escalated late Monday after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared the Strait of Hormuz closed.
The IRGC said in its announcement:
“The Strait of Hormuz is now closed. Any vessel attempting to pass through will be attacked.”
The Embassy assured Zimbabweans that it is closely monitoring developments, stating:
“We will continue to track the situation and provide necessary updates. Nationals requiring assistance are encouraged to contact the Embassy.”
Further updates will be issued as the situation evolves.
