HARARE – In a long-awaited move, prominent gold dealer and Scottland FC owner Scott Sakupwanya has handed over a US$27,000 Toyota Aqua to Dynamos midfielder Denver Mukamba.
The vehicle fulfills a pledge made last year when Mukamba was among the Scottland players promised a reward for helping the team gain promotion to Zimbabwe’s top-flight league. The commitment had remained unfulfilled for months until the handover this week.
The delivery comes just three weeks after Mukamba played a pivotal role in his current team, Dynamos, defeating Sakupwanya’s Scottland FC. In that match at Rufaro Stadium, Mukamba scored a stunning goal and delivered an outstanding performance to help Dynamos secure a 3-2 comeback victory.
Following that game, Sakupwanya had already given Mukamba US$1,000 in immediate recognition of his performance against his own team.
While Mukamba has now received his reward, Sakupwanya has yet to fulfill the same promise to several other players who were instrumental in Scottland’s successful promotion campaign. Reports indicate only a few individuals have received their promised vehicles to date.
