The Ministry of Health and Child Care has called on corporate organisations and the business community to join a resource mobilisation luncheon aimed at supporting Ingutsheni Central Hospital in Bulawayo, on the 20th of March.
According to the Ministry’s Public Spokesperson, yesterday, Donald Mujiri, the initiative, organised in collaboration with the Office of the Vice President, seeks to mobilise resources to enhance service delivery at the hospital.
“The Office of the Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, together with the Ministry of Health and Child Care, is pleased to invite corporate organisations and the business community to a Resource Mobilisation Luncheon in support of Ingutsheni Central Hospital, Bulawayo,” Mujiri said.
He emphasised that the luncheon provides an opportunity for stakeholders to contribute to improving infrastructure, medical equipment, and patient welfare at the facility.
“This is part of a broader effort to strengthen collaboration between the public sector and private players in order to improve health services, particularly in the mental health sector.
Ingutsheni Central Hospital plays a critical role in providing specialised mental health care, and support from the corporate sector will go a long way in ensuring the facility meets growing demand,” Mujiri added.
The spokesperson said contributions from companies and other partners would be directed towards refurbishing wards, upgrading equipment, and improving living conditions for patients.
“Through this initiative, we are seeking to bring together the business community and other stakeholders to pledge financial and material support.
Every contribution counts towards enhancing the quality of care for our patients and building a more robust mental health service in the country,” he said.
The Ministry noted that the luncheon would also serve as a platform for fostering partnerships between Government and the private sector, underlining the importance of shared responsibility in national development.
“Strengthening our health institutions is a collective responsibility. This resource mobilisation effort underscores the need for continued cooperation between Government, corporate players, and the community at large,” Mujiri added.
Ingutsheni Central Hospital, located in Bulawayo, is Zimbabwe’s main referral centre for mental health services.
The hospital has faced challenges including ageing infrastructure, limited resources, and rising patient demand, prompting Government and the Ministry of Health and Child Care to seek support from the private sector to improve services and facilities.
