Senegal head coach, Pape Bouna Thiaw, has been suspended for five official CAF matches following incidents that occurred during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final.
CAF’s Disciplinary Board ruled on Wednesday that Thiaw violated principles of fair play and integrity, behaviour they said brought the game into disrepute. He was also fined US$100 000.
Senegalese players, Iliman Ndiaye and Ismaila Sarr, were each handed two-match bans for unsporting conduct directed at the referee.
The Sénégalaise Football Fédération (FSF) was issued multiple penalties, including US$300 000 for supporter misconduct, US$300 000 for unsporting behaviour by players and technical staff, and an additional US$15 000 for multiple cautions accumulated during the match.
Morocco also faced sanctions. Team captain Achraf Hakimi received a two-match suspension, while Ismaël Saibari was hit with a three-match ban and a US$100 000 fine.
The Royal Morocco Football Federation (FRMF) was fined US$315 000 for infractions including interference with VAR procedures, inappropriate behaviour by ball boys and laser use by supporters.
CAF also dismissed a protest lodged by Morocco alleging regulatory breaches by Senegal during the final, officially closing the disciplinary proceedings.
