Magaya, who is facing multiple criminal allegations, was released after the court ruled that he was a suitable candidate for bail. He had been remanded in custody since January 26 after being charged with four additional counts of rape.
The latest allegations relate to incidents said to have occurred between 2016 and 2023 and involve four different complainants, all of whom were either congregants or employees linked to institutions associated with Magaya.
The trial in respect of these charges is scheduled to commence on the 16th of this month.
In a separate matter, Magaya is also facing five other charges for the alleged rape of two congregants. He is expected to return to court on March 2 in connection with those allegations.
The PHD leader is further facing 78 counts of fraud, in which he is jointly charged with his wife, Tendai Magaya, and two companies linked to the couple. That matter was postponed to March 27, pending the completion of investigations and the preparation of an indictment to the High Court.
As part of his bail conditions, Magaya was ordered to report twice weekly every Monday and Friday, at CID Mukushi Academy. He was also directed to surrender his passport to the clerk of court, hand over the title deeds to his Mt Pleasant home in Harare and to reside at his stated address.
