Motherwell forward Tawanda Maswanhise says he is determined to keep pushing his game to higher levels after being voted G4 Player of the Month for January, describing the honour as motivation to maintain his impressive momentum.
Maswanhise, who has become one of the most feared forwards in the Scottish Premiership, said the award reflects not only his individual progress but also the growing confidence within the entire squad.
“Thank you, Motherwell fans, for the player of the month award, the first one of the new year. Hopefully, this is one of many to come. I just have to keep the fire burning,” he said.
“The morale in the camp is really high, and the atmosphere is increasing week by week. Hopefully, I can keep climbing.”
Motherwell enjoyed a superb January, winning four of their five league matches and keeping four clean sheets, a run that has lifted the team’s spirits and sharpened their competitive edge.
At the heart of that surge has been Maswanhise’s explosive form.
The 22-year-old scored in every league match during the month, finishing with six goals in five appearances. His blistering run has propelled him to the top of the Premiership scoring charts with 13 goals overall, cementing his status as one of the most influential attacking players in the division this season.
His performances have not gone unnoticed beyond Scotland. After emerging as one of Zimbabwe’s standout stars at the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations, Maswanhise has reportedly attracted interest from clubs such as Blackburn Rovers and Belgian giants Anderlecht.
Born in Zimbabwe and raised in England, Maswanhise developed through the Leicester City youth academy before joining Motherwell on a short-term contract in August 2024. His instant impact earned him consecutive contract extensions, helping the club secure and stabilise its Premiership status.
With confidence rising and goals flowing, Maswanhise says the challenge now is to keep pushing—both for himself and for Motherwell’s growing ambitions.
