The Ministry of Health and Child Care has announced that Zimbabwe will host the inaugural Conference on Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health and Nutrition (RMNCAH+N) from March 4 to 5, 2026, at the Rainbow Towers Hotel and Conference Center in Harare.

“The inaugural Conference on Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health and Nutrition (RMNCAH+N) will be held from 4 to 5 March 2026, at the Rainbow Towers, in Harare, under the theme ‘Ending Preventable Maternal & Perinatal Mortality: Lessons Learned and Future Directions,’” the Ministry of Health and Child Care said.

According to the Ministry, the conference will bring together policymakers, health professionals, researchers and development partners to share experiences and chart the way forward in addressing maternal and newborn health challenges.

“The conference will provide a platform for knowledge exchange and collective action to eliminate preventable maternal and child mortality,” the Ministry said.

It added that participants will reflect on progress made in improving maternal and child health outcomes while identifying gaps and future strategies to accelerate progress.

“Participants will discuss health interventions that bridge gaps linked to socioeconomic status, gender, education and geography while addressing foundational drivers of change, including policy, financing and comprehensive health system transformation,” the Ministry said.

The Ministry also noted that the conference will focus on evaluating successful interventions in reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health programmes while strengthening healthcare systems and promoting community-based approaches.

“The meeting will highlight lessons learned from ongoing programmes and explore future directions aimed at ending preventable maternal and perinatal mortality in Zimbabwe and beyond,” the statement read.

The conference is expected to draw participation from a range of stakeholders including Government officials, academia, professional associations and international development partners.
The RMNCAH+N framework focuses on improving health outcomes for women, newborns, children and adolescents through integrated health services, nutrition support and strengthened health systems.
