Constituency development projects gather momentum in Nkayi North

Development efforts in Nkayi North constituency continue to gain momentum as community-driven infrastructure projects move closer to completion with support from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

The initiatives are being spearheaded by the area Member of Parliament, Sithembiso Nyoni, who has been working with local stakeholders to channel resources toward priority projects in education and healthcare.

Several schools across the constituency are among the beneficiaries of the latest round of support, receiving key building materials aimed at completing critical infrastructure. Schools such as Skhobokhobo Secondary School, Thokozani Secondary School and Gwelutshena Secondary School are expected to benefit from improved classroom facilities once the construction projects are finalized. The development will significantly improve the learning environment for pupils, many of whom have been studying in incomplete or overcrowded facilities.

Speaking during the handover of cement, roofing sheets, window frames and paint to the School Development Committees and community representatives, Dr. Nyoni said the Constituency Development Fund plays a vital role in addressing pressing local needs identified by communities themselves.

“The CDF allows communities to identify their most urgent priorities and we work together to address them. Investing in schools and clinics means investing in the future of our constituency,” she said.

Beyond the education sector, the health sector has also received a boost. Mdengelele Clinic is among the facilities receiving building materials to help complete its infrastructure and improve access to healthcare services for surrounding communities.

Dr. Nyoni emphasized that strengthening both education and healthcare infrastructure remains key to improving the quality of life for residents in the constituency.

“When our schools are properly built and our clinics are functional, we create a foundation for stronger and healthier communities,” she said.

Local traditional leaders, community stakeholders and School Development Committees welcomed the support, noting that the materials will help speed up the completion of the projects.

They also pledged to work closely with contractors and community members to ensure the resources are used effectively and the projects are completed within the expected timelines. Once completed, the projects are expected to significantly enhance service delivery and improve living standards for communities across Nkayi North constituency
