Belarusian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, His Excellency General Ihar Marshalau, has paid a farewell courtesy call on President Emmerson Mnangagwa at his Munhumutapa Offices as he concludes his diplomatic tour of duty.
Ambassador Marshalau, who has served as Minsk’s top envoy since February 2024, departs at a time when relations between Belarus and Zimbabwe continue to deepen under the Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation. Collaboration between the two nations has expanded across key sectors, including trade, agriculture and security.
Speaking to journalists after a closed-door meeting with the President, Ambassador Marshalau reaffirmed his country’s backing for Zimbabwe’s campaign for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council.
He also commended the progress achieved through the Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation, highlighting advancements in areas such as agricultural mechanisation, equipment supply, trade facilitation and security cooperation.
Ambassador Marshalau has served as Belarus’ chief diplomat in Harare since February 2024, during which time bilateral relations have seen significant growth driven by high-level engagement and practical economic partnerships.
