ZANU PF has concluded its ten-leg provincial outreach programme in Matabeleland North, calling for stronger grassroots structures to drive development and ensure communities directly benefit from government initiatives.
Addressing the party’s Extraordinary Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) in Lupane on Saturday, Secretary General Advocate Jacob Mudenda stressed the importance of accountability and results-driven policies.
“To strengthen accountability and alignment with party directives, the PCC must require periodic quarterly reports from the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution on economic progress, challenges and corrective measures to advance provincial prosperity of the people.
“Through this systematic oversight, development becomes results-driven and fully aligned with Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy 2,” Mudenda said.
He added that provincial leaders have a key role to play in monitoring and evaluating Government programmes, especially signature projects like the Gwayi-Shangani Dam.
“Monitoring and evaluation of Government programmes and signature projects such as the Gwayi-Shangani Dam is a core responsibility of provincial leaders,” he said, urging officials to visit ongoing projects regularly to assess progress and ensure equitable resource utilisation.
Mudenda also noted that systematic oversight and active participation at all levels remain critical for the province’s socio-economic transformation.
“The completion of this programme demonstrates our commitment to seeing results on the ground. We want development that people can see, touch, and feel,” he said.
Provincial Chairperson, Richard Moyo said ZANU PF members in Matabeleland North are expected to take the lead in implementing development initiatives.
“As a province, we greatly appreciate the message delivered. Moving forward, our members are expected to take the lead in driving development,” he said.
The PCC meeting was attended by key party figures, including National Political Commissar Munyaradzi Machacha, ZANU PF’s Secretary for Finance, Patrick Chinamasa, Secretary for Economic Empowerment Sithembiso Nyoni, Deputy Secretary for Legal Affairs Fortune Chasi, Deputy Secretary for Security Tendai Chirau, and Women’s League Secretary for Finance Tsitsi Mugabe, among other senior provincial and district leaders.
The outreach programme, which traversed all ten districts of the province, focused on strengthening local structures, boosting service delivery, and enhancing citizen participation in development. The party said the programme marked a milestone in consolidating Government and party development-driven policies, ensuring inclusive growth, and delivering tangible benefits to communities.
