Dairy Conference opens in Victoria Falls

The International Dairy Federation (IDF) Regional Dairy Conference for Africa begins today in Victoria Falls.

The three-day conference, running from March 31 to April 2, is being presided over by the Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Dr Anxious Jongwe Masuka, and is expected to generate practical solutions to boost food security and rural economic growth across Africa.

In a statement issued ahead of the conference, the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development confirmed the country’s readiness to host the high-level gathering.

 “All is set for the IDF Regional Dairy Conference Africa 2026 in Victoria Falls (31 Mar–2 Apr), presided over by Hon. Minister Dr Anxious Jongwe Masuka,” the ministry said.

The ministry underscored the strategic importance of the conference, highlighting its focus areas as central to transforming the dairy industry.

 “The focus is on climate-smart dairy, value addition and market access to boost food security and rural growth,” the ministry said.

Emphasising the outcomes expected from the engagements, the ministry added that the conference will drive actionable solutions for the sector.

“This platform brings together key stakeholders to share knowledge and identify practical pathways to strengthen Africa’s dairy value chains,” the statement said.

Zimbabwe is positioning itself to benefit from regional cooperation in the dairy sector, with ongoing initiatives to increase milk production, support smallholder farmers and expand processing capacity.

The IDF Regional Dairy Conference for Africa is a key platform that convenes stakeholders across the dairy industry to address challenges and unlock growth opportunities.
