Govt dissolves Zimura board

The board of the Zimbabwe Music Rights Association (Zimura) has been dissolved as the Government moves to restore order and accountability within the organisation.

Authorities cited poor financial transparency and failure to uphold fiduciary duties as key reasons behind the decision to disband the board, which had been chaired by Alexio Gwenzi.

Confirming the development, Zimura acting director, Henry Makombe, said the Secretariat will continue to run day-to-day operations while awaiting further directives.

“We continue operating as the Secretariat, awaiting the Interim Administrator to be appointed by the Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, and ultimately the establishment of the new board,” he said.

The intervention is expected to pave the way for stronger governance structures and improved accountability in Zimbabwe’s music rights management sector.
