“The Speaker of Parliament, Advocate Jacob F.N. Mudenda and President of the Senate, Hon. M. M. Chinomona, are in Istanbul, Türkiye attending the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and related meetings scheduled for the 14th to 19th April 2026,” reads part of the statement.

The assembly comes at a time of heightened global tensions, with ongoing conflicts in several regions continuing to impact civilian populations and destabilise economies.

“Hosted by the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, the IPU Assembly is running under the overarching theme, ‘Nurturing Hope, Securing Peace and Ensuring Justice for Future Generations,” the statement added.

Parliament underscored that the forum provides a critical platform for legislators from across the world to deliberate on peacebuilding and conflict resolution, particularly in light of escalating geopolitical challenges.

“This statutory Assembly offers a unique opportunity for participating lawmakers to pronounce themselves eloquently in advancing peaceful solutions to global war conflicts as ensconced within the auspices of Parliamentary Diplomacy,” the statement said.

The IPU Assembly brings together legislators from member states to engage in dialogue on pressing global issues, including peace, justice, sustainable development and human rights.

Through such engagements, Zimbabwe continues to reaffirm its commitment to multilateralism and constructive international cooperation, while contributing to global efforts aimed at resolving conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy.
