ZANU PF First Secretary and President, Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa says young people remain the primary beneficiaries of the Fourth Chimurenga and must therefore take an active role in driving Zimbabwe’s economic development agenda.
Addressing the ZANU PF Youth League National Assembly at the party headquarters in Harare on Wednesday, President Mnangagwa emphasised the crucial role of youths in accelerating the modernisation and industrialisation of the national economy.
“As ZANU PF Youth League at all levels, you are the inheritors of the Fourth Chimurenga. Events such as the Youth Business Forum held on the sidelines of this year’s Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) are encouraging because they integrate young entrepreneurs into the productive and priority sectors of our economy.
“More partnerships should be pursued with organisations such as ZimTrade to help youth enter export markets. Similarly, the bilateral and multilateral MOUs signed by my administration must be leveraged to ensure youth-owned businesses penetrate regional and global value chains,” he said.
The President said Zimbabwe is advancing steadily towards the goals of Vision 2030 and stressed the importance of strategic planning and innovative thinking among the youth.
“Our country is fast achieving aspirations projected under Vision 2030. The future we are building under the Second Republic requires foresighted thinkers, meticulous planners and focused implementers. During National Youth Day, I emphasised the need to nurture platforms for dialogue and constructive engagement. I again urge young people to acquire the knowledge necessary to participate meaningfully in social and economic spheres.”
President Mnangagwa highlighted Government’s ongoing efforts to invest in young people, noting the growing culture of patriotism, innovation and community service among Zimbabwean youth.
“Today, our policies and programmes are laying a firm foundation for a generation that is productive, disciplined and aware of its responsibilities. The evident culture of service and patriotism among young people across the country is pleasing. I urge you all to keep marching forward as we advance our national development agenda, even as global shocks continue to threaten economies.”
He further reminded the young people that discipline, integrity and hard work remain central to sustaining a strong revolutionary party and nation.
“The success of our party and our national development efforts rests on the values we uphold. Discipline, integrity and hard, honest work must be lived without compromise. We cannot build a modern, resilient revolutionary party on weak principles. Revolutionary unity, patriotism, loyalty, discipline and productivity are irreplaceable values.”
The National Youth Assembly was attended by Politburo members, youth leaders and other invited delegates.
