Government’s rural electrification programme is gathering momentum in Ward 6 of Mwenezi North Constituency, with residents set to benefit from improved access to electricity as the Second Republic continues to roll out infrastructure development projects across the country.
The electrification project, currently underway in the ward, is expected to enhance economic activity, improve service delivery and create opportunities for local communities to participate more effectively in productive sectors of the economy.
Speaking on the development, Mwenezi District Information Officer, Rodney Kudzanai said the project was a clear demonstration of Government’s commitment to ensuring that development reaches every corner of the country.
“The rural electrification programme underway in Ward 6 is testament to the Second Republic’s commitment to inclusive development. President Mnangagwa has consistently emphasised that no place and no one will be left behind, and this project reflects that vision in action,” said Kudzanai.
He said access to electricity was a critical enabler of socio-economic transformation, particularly in rural communities where development opportunities had previously been limited by inadequate infrastructure.
“Electricity opens doors for communities. It improves education through better learning environments, enhances healthcare delivery, supports irrigation and agricultural production, and creates opportunities for entrepreneurship and small businesses to flourish,” he said.
Kudzanai said the project was expected to have a positive impact on household livelihoods and community development in the ward.
“The coming of electricity will improve the quality of life for many families. It will allow communities to engage in income-generating projects, promote value addition and support the growth of rural industries,” he said.
The ongoing electrification works form part of broader efforts by the Government to modernise rural areas through strategic investments in infrastructure, including roads, schools, health facilities, water systems and energy projects.
Kudzanai urged communities to take advantage of the infrastructure being provided by Government to establish productive projects that contribute to local economic growth.
“As Government continues to deliver transformative projects, communities must embrace a culture of production and innovation. Development is most meaningful when citizens utilise available opportunities to improve their livelihoods and contribute to national growth,” he said.
The Ward 6 electrification project is expected to significantly boost development in the area and further advance the Government’s vision of achieving inclusive and equitable growth across Zimbabwe.
