Chivi North Member of Parliament, Godfrey Huruva Mukungunugwa, has strongly endorsed the proposed Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill, telling Parliament that his constituency fully supports the legislative reforms currently under debate.
Speaking during yesterday’s Parliamentary debate, Mukungunugwa said the proposed constitutional changes were aligned with the aspirations of his constituents and the broader national development agenda.
“My constituency, Chivi North, fully supports the proposed Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill,” he said.
He said the Bill should be understood within the context of strengthening governance systems and advancing national development priorities.
“The proposed Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill is in line with what communities expect in terms of improved governance and development delivery,” he said.
Mukungunugwa also commended Government for progress made in infrastructure development and service delivery, saying communities in rural areas were beginning to experience tangible benefits from national development programmes.
“We commend Government for the notable developmental progress being recorded across the country. In Chivi North and other rural areas, people can see that development is taking place and life is improving,” he added.
He said the constitutional reform process should not be viewed in isolation but as part of broader efforts to modernise governance structures and ensure they are responsive to current socio-economic realities.
“These reforms must be seen as part of a wider national effort to strengthen institutions and ensure that Government is able to deliver efficiently to the people,” he said.
The Chivi North legislator urged fellow Members of Parliament to support development-oriented legislation, arguing that unity in Parliament was essential for national progress.
“We must put national interest first. What matters most is that we continue to improve the lives of our people through progressive laws and policies,” he said.
He further emphasised that rural constituencies stand to benefit significantly from sustained Government investment in infrastructure, including roads, water systems, schools and health facilities.
“Our communities in Chivi North are looking forward to continued development in roads, water supply, education and health services,” he said.
Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill is part of ongoing parliamentary processes aimed at adjusting aspects of Zimbabwe’s governance framework.
