City Parking has apologised following public outrage over an incident in which a mother was reportedly delayed from seeking urgent medical attention for her child after her vehicle was clamped.
In a public statement, released yesterday, City Parking described the incident as distressing and acknowledged the seriousness of the matter, saying immediate measures had been taken to address the situation and prevent a recurrence.
“City Parking deeply regrets the distressing incident that occurred involving a mother and her child who required urgent medical attention. We acknowledge the seriousness of the matter and the public concern it has generated,” the company said.
The parking management company extended its apology to both the affected family and members of the public, admitting that the matter was not handled appropriately.
“We sincerely apologize to the affected family and to the wider community for the manner in which this situation was handled.
The wellbeing and safety of our customers is paramount, and we recognize that compassion and sensitivity must guide our operations at all times,” said City Parking.
The company revealed that its management team immediately intervened following the incident and released the vehicle after reaching out to the child’s mother.
“Management team immediately reached out to the mother and vehicle was released,” it said.
City Parking further announced that it has instituted a full investigation into the conduct of its employees involved in the incident and vowed to take appropriate disciplinary action where necessary.

The company also pledged to undertake a comprehensive review of its vehicle clamping procedures to ensure that emergency situations are handled urgently and compassionately.

As part of the reforms, City Parking said all employees will undergo mandatory customer service and sensitivity training, particularly on dealing with vulnerable persons and medical emergencies.

The company said it is engaging directly with the affected family to offer its apologies and support, adding that it wishes the child a speedy recovery.
