The Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe has launched a short video contest inviting Zimbabwean content creators and storytellers to showcase the enduring friendship between Zimbabwe and China as part of the 2026 China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges.
In a statement, recently, the Chinese Embassy said the contest was intended to celebrate the longstanding ties between the two countries while encouraging Zimbabweans to share their personal perspectives on the relationship.
“2026 marks China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges, offering a great opportunity to celebrate the long-standing friendship between China and Zimbabwe,” the Embassy said.
The Embassy said it wanted participants to use their creativity to capture the different dimensions of China-Zimbabwe relations, including personal experiences, bilateral cooperation and interactions between people from the two countries.
“We want to hear your voice and see your perspective. What does China-Zimbabwe friendship mean to you?.
“Whether it is a warm personal experience, moments of bilateral cooperation, heart-warming people-to-people interactions, or stories of shared development, your authentic stories deserve to be heard and shared!,”the Embassy added.
The competition is open exclusively to Zimbabwean nationals, with entries accepted from individuals or small teams comprising a maximum of three members.
The Embassy said entries must be original and previously unpublished, with participants encouraged to submit creative formats that effectively communicate their experiences and perspectives.
“Vlogs, short documentaries, micro-films and interview clips are all accepted. Participants have been advised to produce videos preferably between one and three minutes, although entries of up to five minutes will be accepted.
The technical requirements stipulate that submissions must be in MP4 format and have a minimum resolution of 720P,”the Embassy added.
An award-giving ceremony will be held before the end of the year, although the exact date is yet to be announced.
The contest comes as Zimbabwe and China continue to strengthen bilateral relations across economic, political, educational, cultural and development sectors.
The China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges is expected to further promote interaction and mutual understanding between Chinese and African communities, with initiatives such as the contest providing a platform for citizens to document and celebrate these longstanding ties.
