President Emmerson Mnangagwa has challenged Cabinet ministers to ensure their own projects demonstrate the same level of productivity and operational excellence witnessed during a high-level tour of his Pricabe Farm in Kwekwe.
Speaking to the media after taking ministers through the farm, yesterday, President Mnangagwa said he expected the visit to inspire Cabinet members to raise their performance benchmarks, undertake honest self-assessment and ensure their leadership produced visible results in their respective areas of responsibility.
“I hope that the Cabinet Ministers who have toured my Pricabe Farm here in Kwekwe have been inspired by what they have seen,” President Mnangagwa said.
He said he was now looking forward to visiting projects being implemented by the ministers themselves to assess whether they were achieving comparable results.
“I eagerly anticipate visiting their own projects to see similar results in action,” he said.
President Mnangagwa said the farm tour was intended to provide ministers with a practical demonstration of what could be achieved through commitment, effective management, discipline and a focus on productivity.
“The tour has provided a practical showcase of agricultural productivity, leadership and operational excellence,” he said.
He urged ministers to use the experience to reflect on their own performance and assess whether their respective programmes were meeting the standards expected of them.
“Leadership requires self-assessment, performance and setting high benchmarks,” President Mnangagwa said.
He said Cabinet members should continuously evaluate the impact of their work rather than being satisfied with plans, policies and targets that had not translated into tangible outcomes.
“Each of us must constantly assess ourselves and ask whether what we are doing is producing the results that our people expect,” he said.
President Mnangagwa said the standards observed at Pricabe Farm should encourage ministers to pursue greater efficiency and productivity in their own portfolios.
“What I have shown you here is what can be achieved when there is commitment to the work, proper planning and attention to operational excellence,” he said.
The President said ministers should demonstrate leadership through practical implementation, with their projects serving as evidence of the effectiveness of Government policies and programmes.
“Your projects should speak for themselves. The results on the ground must demonstrate the level of commitment and leadership that we expect from those entrusted with national responsibilities,” he said.
The visit comes as Government continues to place emphasis on agricultural productivity, food security and economic transformation, with improved production and efficient utilisation of resources remaining key components of the country’s development agenda.
