Implement Zanu PF conference resolutions: Pres. Mnangagwa

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has urged all Zanu PF departments to ensure the effective implementation of resolutions from the party’s 23rd National People’s Conference.

Addressing the 398th Ordinary Session of the Politburo in Harare, recently, President Mnangagwa said the conference, scheduled to open on Friday in Chinhoyi, Mashonaland West Province, should produce decisions that strengthen intra-party democracy and improve people’s livelihoods.

“We must continue to avail the bold oversight required to see that all Resolutions are implemented for impactful results.

The Politburo meeting would undertake a final review of preparations for the conference, including its programme and substantive issues, while ensuring that delegates’ deliberations reflected the interests of party members,” President Mnangagwa added.

He urged conference committees to draw on the collective wisdom of delegates, stressing that resolutions should contribute positively to the economy and the overall quality of life.

“Deliberations must enhance intra-party democracy whilst ensuring that decisions and resolutions will lead to positive impacts on the economy and overall quality of life for our people,” he said.

The President commended Politburo members and departmental heads for their contributions to the Central Committee Report, which will be presented at the conference in accordance with the party constitution.

“There is need for greater collaboration between departments, urging party leaders to understand the activities, challenges and opportunities outlined in departmental reports to improve coordination and policy implementation,” he said.

President Mnangagwa also credited departmental work plans and policy management meetings with improving planning, monitoring and evaluation of party activities during the year under review.

“The party’s engagement with Government and other stakeholders had contributed to the adoption of reforms.

“Specialist expertise from across society should be harnessed to strengthen policy proposals and party operations,” he added.

The President further thanked the conference organising committee and donors for supporting the Presidential Fundraising Dinner Ball held in Harare.

“Together in unity, let us deliver a historic and successful 23rd National People’s Conference,” Mnangagwa said, urging departments to maintain unity of purpose throughout the gathering.

The conference officially opens on October 16 in Chinhoyi.
