Minister of Industry and Commerce, Nqobizitha M. Ndlovu, said Zimbabwe is witnessing sustained growth and expansion in the commercial and retail sector.
Addressing stakeholders at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Fair Grounds Mall in Bulawayo, yesterday, Minister Ndlovu said the development reflects growing investor confidence and aligns with national economic transformation goals.
“The nation is witnessing growth and expansion in the commercial and retail sector as the economy grows into an empowered and prosperous upper middle income society by 2030,” he said.
He described the project as a significant milestone for Bulawayo, noting that it will contribute to urban renewal and enhance the city’s status as a commercial hub.
“This project is a replica of the Greenfields development model and will be a game changer for Bulawayo City.
Such investments are key in driving industrialisation and broad-based economic growth,” he added.
According to project details shared at the event, the construction phase of the mall is expected to employ more than 350 people, providing a boost to local jobs and skills development. Upon completion, the facility will accommodate approximately 40 tenants, creating a vibrant retail and commercial environment in the city.
The Fair Grounds Mall project forms part of efforts by Government and private sector partners to revitalise Bulawayo’s economy and infrastructure.
