Chivayo dangles bus as Harare Derby fever grips Harare

Businessman Wicknell Chivayo has ignited excitement ahead of this weekend’s highly anticipated Harare Derby between Dynamos FC and CAPS United by pledging a brand-new team bus for the Glamour Boys if they emerge victorious.

During a radio interview on Capitalk FM, yesterday a Dynamos fan appealed to Chivayo for support, prompting the flamboyant philanthropist to guarantee Dembare a bus if they win Sunday’s derby at Rufaro Stadium.

Dynamos officials and fans have warmly embraced the challenge, viewing it as a major boost ahead of the fierce derby clash. Dembare’s Chairman, Vincent Chawonza is hoping the Glamour Boys can bounce back to winning ways.

“At Dynamos the door is always open to anyone or any organisation that so wishes to partner the team in any way.
“We welcome Sir Wicknell’s gesture and the challenge is now on us as a team to make sure we play our part and be able to claim the promise,” said Chawonza.

He added that the executive committee was already working on incentives for the derby amid revelations that an unnamed sponsor was planning on chipping in a US$120 000 package for the players should they beat Makepekepe on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Caps United president Farai Jere confirmed to his players yesterday that he will double their US$500 winning bonuses if they beat the Glamour Boys.

The match, traditionally one of Zimbabwe’s biggest fixtures, promises fireworks as both sides battle for supremacy in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
Kick-off is scheduled for 3pm.
