Dynamos winless run hits six as Herentals strike late

Harare giants Dynamos F.C. suffered yet another stoppage-time setback after veteran Ralph Kawondera struck at the death to earn Herentals F.C. a dramatic 2-2 draw at Rufaro Stadium.

The result deepened Dynamos’ woes, with the Glamour Boys now winless in six Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League matches.

Like the “immortal” jellyfish famed for its ability to regenerate, Kawondera continues to defy age, reinventing himself and delivering for Herentals in both defence and attack.

The 35-year-old was decisive once again, scoring his seventh goal of the season to steal a point and stretch Dynamos’ miserable run. A former Triangle United F.C., FC Platinum, Dynamos F.C. and CAPS United F.C. player, Kawondera routinely starts in defence before shifting into attack in the second half—an unusual tactical switch that continues to pay off for the Students.

Herentals’ resilience has lifted them to sixth place on 19 points, with Kawondera emerging as their talisman through a string of crucial goals that have even put him in the early race for the league’s Golden Boot.

“I am using my experience. I have been around for quite a bit and I have played in defence and upfront as well, so I am making sure that whenever I am playing, I give my best for the team,” said Herentals captain Kawondera.

For Dynamos, the alarm bells are growing louder after another frustrating outing widened the gap between them and the leading pack.
