Residents of Izaya Park, Mandava and Makwasha in Zvishavane are set to benefit from improved access to healthcare services following the establishment of Makwasha Polyclinic by the Zvishavane Town Council.
In a statement yesterday, the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services said the local authority invested in the new health facility as part of broader efforts to improve healthcare delivery and ensure communities can access medical services closer to their homes.
“Zvishavane Town Council invested in Makwasha Polyclinic as part of efforts to decentralize health services and reduce pressure on the main Zvishavane District Hospital and Mandava Clinic,” the Ministry said.
The Ministry noted that for many years, residents from Izaya Park, Mandava and Makwasha had been forced to travel long distances to access medical attention, often placing additional financial and logistical burdens on families seeking healthcare.
“For years, residents of Izaya Park, Mandava, and Makwasha have traveled long distances for medical attention,” the Ministry said.
The Ministry highlighted that the polyclinic has been equipped with critical infrastructure designed to enhance the quality of care provided to patients.
“The new health facility includes a women’s waiting shelter and a fully equipped outpatient department.
The women’s waiting shelter is expected to provide a safe and comfortable space for expectant mothers awaiting delivery, while the outpatient department will cater for a wide range of routine medical consultations and treatments,”the Ministry added
The development comes as Zimbabwe continues to prioritise the decentralisation of public services and the strengthening of healthcare infrastructure at community level.
The establishment of Makwasha Polyclinic is also expected to improve service delivery for a growing population in Zvishavane and surrounding areas, while contributing to the Government’s goal of achieving equitable access to quality healthcare services across the country.

A great development for Zvishavane. Improved access to healthcare means healthier communities, quicker medical attention and a better quality of life for residents. 👏🏽
