The Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers (CZR) has assured consumers that retail and wholesale businesses across the country will operate normally on 31 July 2026.
In a statement, recently, CZR president, Denford Mutashu, said the retail and wholesale sector remained committed to ensuring uninterrupted trade while supporting economic stability, employment creation and national development.
“The Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers (CZR) wishes to assure the nation that all retail and wholesale businesses across Zimbabwe will remain open and conduct business as usual on 31 July 2026,” he said.
He encouraged consumers to continue visiting their preferred shopping centres, supermarkets, wholesalers, pharmacies, service stations and other retail outlets with confidence as they conduct their daily activities.
“We encourage all members of the public to continue patronising their usual shopping centres, supermarkets, wholesalers, pharmacies, service stations and other retail outlets with confidence as they go about their normal day-to-day activities,” Mutashu said.
The CZR president said the retail and wholesale industry remains a key contributor to Zimbabwe’s economy through the provision of essential products, support for employment and contribution to industrial growth.
“The retail and wholesale sector remains a critical pillar of Zimbabwe’s economy, providing essential goods and services to millions of consumers while supporting employment, industrial growth and national development,” he said.
Mutashu said the prevailing peace, security and macroeconomic stability in the country continued to provide a foundation for businesses to operate, invest and serve consumers effectively.
He also acknowledged Government’s efforts in promoting economic stability, saying the private sector remained confident in the country’s development trajectory.
“CZR acknowledges the significant strides made in promoting economic stability under the Second Republic, led by His Excellency, President Cde Dr E.D. Mnangagwa, whose vision of an upper middle-income economy by 2030 continues to inspire confidence among businesses and investors,” he said.
Mutashu further commended law enforcement agencies for maintaining peace and order, which he said was essential for creating a conducive environment for commerce and economic growth.
“We also commend the country’s law enforcement agencies for their continued efforts in safeguarding peace, law and order, thereby creating a conducive environment for commerce and national development,” he said.
Mutashu said CZR would continue working with Government, law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders to promote consumer confidence, uninterrupted trade and sustainable economic growth.
“Together, let us continue building a peaceful, prosperous and economically resilient Zimbabwe,” he said.
