ZANU PF Chivi Central legislator, Exevia Maoneke last Friday donated information and communication technology (ICT) equipment, educational materials, food supplies and farming inputs to schools and community members in Ward 19, saying the initiative is aimed at supporting education and livelihoods in the constituency.
The donation, which was handed over at Mupagamuri Primary School, included a smart board, 10 laptops, a printer, 10 computer mice, four soccer balls, pens and pencils for learners. Community members each received a packet of rice, while Village Business Unit chairpersons were given 50kg bags of top fertiliser.
Addressing beneficiaries, Maoneke attributed the initiative to Government’s rural development agenda.
“I would like to thank the Second Republic and President Emmerson Mnangagwa for championing inclusive development under the principle of leaving no one and no place behind,” he said.
Maoneke said Government programmes continue to improve access to education and essential services across the country.
“The Government’s development agenda continues to expand access to education and essential services across the country,” he said.
Beneficiaries welcomed the donation, saying the ICT equipment would improve digital learning at the school, while the food and fertiliser would provide immediate relief to households and support agricultural production.
Some villagers also called for improved healthcare services, job creation to address high unemployment, better infrastructure, and increased funding for schools, saying these remained some of the community’s most pressing challenges.
The donation was widely received as a boost to education and household livelihoods, with community members expressing optimism that similar initiatives, alongside continued Government investment, would contribute to improved living standards across Chivi Central.
