Inclusive empowerment: Muduvuri Foundation uplifts the vulnerable

More than 4,000 people living with disabilities across Zimbabwe are set to benefit from a free funeral cover scheme launched through a partnership between the Jimayi Muduvuri Foundation, Fidelity Life Assurance, and Doves Funeral Services. The initiative, operating under the banner “People With Disabilities for ED” and in collaboration with the Zimbabwe Amalgamated Council of Churches (ZACC), is a milestone in the Second Republic’s drive toward inclusive national development.

The programme came into the spotlight following the passing of Tawuya Gundani, a wheelchair-bound resident from Kadoma, who became the first beneficiary of the scheme. His family expressed heartfelt gratitude to the foundation and its partners, describing the gesture as one that restored their dignity during a difficult time.

“I am a brother to the deceased. We were both born with disabilities, and life was never easy for us. This support came when we needed it most and we had no means to give Tauya a decent send-off, but this partnership made it possible,” said one relative.

Another family member commended the initiative, saying, “It is comforting to know that people with disabilities are being remembered. This is true empowerment, and we thank the Second Republic for promoting inclusive development through the Jimayi Muduvuri Foundation.”

For members of People With Disabilities for ED, the partnership is not only a financial relief but also a symbol of recognition and belonging in the broader vision of national progress.

“This is more than just a funeral cover but it is proof that we are part of Zimbabwe’s development story. We are grateful to Cde Muduvuri and his partners,” said one beneficiary.

Cde Jimayi Muduvuri, who is also the national chairperson of People With Disabilities for ED, said the initiative reflects the Second Republic’s commitment to inclusivity and its guiding philosophy that “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo” (a nation is built by its own people).

“At least 4,000 members are benefitting from this programme free of charge. We must always respond to the needs of our people, especially the vulnerable. My foundation continues to provide free medical attention and social support across the country,” said Muduvuri.

The development aligns closely with the Government’s Vision 2030 agenda and the recently introduced Persons with Disabilities Bill, which seeks to empower and protect the rights of people with disabilities.

Through partnerships like these, Zimbabwe continues to build a more inclusive, compassionate, and equitable society, one where every citizen, regardless of ability, can live with dignity and hope.
